More than 300 FCSU members and friends gathered at Wiegand Lake Park in Novelty, Ohio, for another enjoyable National Picnic. The weather couldn’t quite make up its mind, with sunshine followed by a few thunderstorms, but the event staff was prepared for both.
Guests enjoyed good food, fellowship and plenty of activities throughout the day. When the lunch line grew long, even Executive Secretary Kevin Collins jumped in to help keep things moving.
Region 6 Director Tom Ivanec continued his annual quest to enjoy as many ice cream cones as possible. This year, he set a new personal record with five cones! His grandson, Branch 24 member Henry Strekal, helped staff throughout the day.
When the rain arrived, a beautiful building on the property provided a dry place for guests to gather for Bingo and Mass. Branch 24 member Maria Cvicela joined one game of Bingo and called the numbers in Slovak, adding a special touch to the afternoon.
Despite the unpredictable weather, the National Picnic was another great opportunity for FCSU members and friends to come together, enjoy one another’s company and celebrate the FCSU family.
